Whenever Neuheisel, then an assistant with the Baltimore Ravens, went to Indianapolis for the NFL scouting combine, he would have lunch with one of two men in charge of NCAA enforcement. NCAA staff members even invited Neuheisel to their pickup basketball game on his next trip.
