Meet the Villain, Played by Brad Butler

Three seconds. Apparently, that's all we need now. Just click it, watch it, label it and move on. In his 22 years, Virginia offensive tackle Brad Butler had established a lifetime of good will. On Saturday, he had his three seconds of ignominy, a lunge at the back of a Boston College defender's legs. It's an act that has been replayed over and over again, dissected and criticized on a national level. It threatens to become his legacy. We shouldn't let it.
Earlier coverage: Our link to the video and the report that Mathias Kiwanuka will miss Saturday's game.

I hope the bastard is punished!

What this neglects to mention is that he tried to destroy a young-man's career. Kiwi is a potential top draft pick who is devoted to spending to helping the poor in Liberia, and Butler almost destroyed that dream - intentionally.

You can judge Butler by what his future family members say, but I'll judge him by his actions. And Butler's actions reak of anger, selfishness, and a profound lack of respect for the game he plays.

You can say that three seconds shouldn't tarnish his 'image'. I would agree with that if it had only been three seconds. It's been almost a week and he still maintains that it was 'over exuberance' and not willful or malicious. If he would just apologize and admit he did something wrong that would be the end of it, but he doesn't. Still saying he didn't do anything wrong intentionally and it was all part of trying to block Mathias.

Butler got off way to easy and If I were him, I'd watch my back (of my knees that is) once I'm back on the field.
