Video of One of the Dirtiest of Plays

Simply put, this is as cheap of a shot as you'll ever see. Virginia tackle Brad Butler takes down Boston College defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka during the third quarter of Saturday's game at Chestnut Hill. Click here to see the video, thanks to our friends at atleagle blog. Virginia officials have yet to discipline Butler and Boston College coach Tom O'Brien is sending the video to the ACC. Tom Luicci of the Newark Star-Ledger has called on the conference to come down hard on Butler. We couldn't agree more. And the game officials really missed on this one, keeping Butler in the game and ejecting the Eagles' Alvin Washington. Update: Click here to see the You Tube video.

One game is not enough. The rest of the season is a good start at a proper punishment for Butler's actions.

UVA and Groh are the biggest whiners about getting hit and here he admits Butler had not one but 2 dirty hits and still has the audacity to say UVA does not play that way. Butler should be done with ball. Dirtiest play I have ever seen.

As far as I'm concerned he should be banned from playing in any NCAA sport permanently.

This is an absolute disgrace to the game of football.

What a dirty play and a despicable player. He should be banned from football for life.

His actions could have severely injured the BC player.
I will never be for UVA to win another game as long as the school or coaches don't come down on this guy hard!

That the kind of thing that could get authorities to consider pressing charges. It's similar to Bertuzzi's cheap shot.

The guys probably a little slow, not too smart and his whole life he gets away with doing idiotic things like this. Now he is caught, after the play has essentially ended doing this cheap shot of purposely trying to injure a player. This is assault! Unfortunately, he won't be kicked off the team because he would find some moron lawyer who would defend him and the school won't take that risk.

That was the most absolute dirty play I have seen in a while. Butler should be banned from the game for a while like they do in rugby for a cheap shot. He should miss the rest of the season at least.

Want more to look at? Try Mo Mitchell from UFlorida. In the 2002 game at Florida State, that idiot did the exact same thing 4-5 times and took out one or two players. I don't remember if he was ejected or not, but the SEC officials were blind to it for a while.

Can you say, "Todd Bertuzzi," anyone? That's the only other cheap shot that comes to mind that's more despicable than what Butler did. The rest of the season would be a good place to start for that, and a very hard-fought petitioning to even be considered for reinstatement next year. Absolutely a disgrace to his school and his sport. I certainly hope there aren't any Virginia fans out there offering even a shred of justification for that.

Suspend him from the NCAA for at least 2 years, and then make him petition to get back in. That way, when he is prosecuted (and he should be!), he won't have to worry about playing football!

wizill i don't know if you're trying to make a really bad/tasteless joke or you're really that stupid, but stfu right now

If Butler isnt suspended, for at least one year, then U.V is just as responsible. Their lack of action in some sense is saying that the University condones Butler's dispicaple cheap shot!!!
Football is already a rough sport, theres no need to allow it to become dirty!
