Oregon, Boise State to Play in China?

Oregon is in talks about moving its 2009 season opener at Boise State to China.

The game is the brainchild of Jeff Hawkins, the Ducks' director of football operations, and Jim Warsaw, founder of the university’s Warsaw Sports Marketing Center.

As it stands now, the Sept. 5 game would be played in either Beijing or Shanghai.

One hanging point is that Boise State wants a guarantee from Oregon of a future game between the teams in Boise.

If details between the Ducks and Broncos can't be worked out, Oregon is in discussions with other teams to make the China trip possible.

Oregon last played overseas in 1985, losing to USC, 20-6, in Tokyo.
