Tebow Begins Work on His Doctorate

The legend of Tim Tebow continues to grow.

Tebow, the Florida quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner, spent spring break in the Philippines and — according to Dave Curtis of the Orlando Sentinel — helped circumcise impoverished children.

Tebow, who has no surgical training, was visiting an orphanage his father's ministry runs in the country and assisted with the care of locals who had walked miles to the temporary clinic the ministry helped organize.

"The first time, it was nerve-racking," he said. "Hands were shaking a little bit. I mean, I'm cutting somebody. You can't do those kinds of things in the United States. But those people really needed the surgeries. We needed to help them."

Richard Moleno, a Florida graduate and aspiring doctor, said: "You could see he was really into it. He thought it was cool. I'd make a stitch, he'd cut a stitch. He got his hands a little wet in surgery."

Tebow will need a good doctor after Allen Bailey introduces himself.

He's used to handling many penises a night anyway.

People said the same thing about his introduction to Geno Hayes. How'd that work out?

I am shaking my head at people's responses to this...last I checked most football players don't go for a doctorate - most study "human studies" or "athletics in the field of trash pickup".

Yes, he may have nipped a few tips, but at least the guy is freaking making somethign of himself.

Not a gator fan by any means, but this is admirable.

Don't worry about his amateur status being compromised. He didn't get paid for his work. He only took tips.

They "really needed the surgeries"? There is no need for circumcision. Any real doctor will tell you that. This is just weird.

Actually...his major is Family and Consumer Sciences. The whole "working on his doctorate" thing is a joke. God, people....Tebow just isn't as great as everyone makes him out to be. While he's out doing whatever he's doing in the Philippines (what a REAL doctor should be doing, not a football player from UF), SOME players are actually going to school and getting their education in the summer. A REAL education.

ya i know it was a joke about him getting his doctorate...but why would you ever criticize a man who is doing missionary work for people who are to poor to afford REAL doctors...so ya go ahead and criticize what he does on his SPRING BREAK not during the summer...which means you were wrong..if you wanted to criticize him correctly you would have said while all of his teammates are getting drunk and partying he is helping out the less fortunate...
