Help Us Help You

Just a reminder while you enjoy this site instead of working. We love our readers. All two of them.

The Wiz asks for your continued support each day as we dig our way through the propaganda that is disguised as corporate media. Send your news tips, especially if it has to do with your dreaded rival. Remember, the best way to destabilize your opponent is to have embarrassing news or a rumor broadcast to the world. So go ahead and snitch on them. You'll feel better about yourself! The tipline: dawizofodds (at) aol.com.

So how many visits does this site get per day? I see that your comments section is nearly empty every day, and yet I have to imagine that people are reading what you put together -- otherwise you wouldn't be doing it.

If it's none of my business, you don't have to answer. I am just curious.

I'll also use this as an opportunity to let you know that I visit your site nearly every day, and it's one of my favorites. It's great to get a look at some of the lesser-publicized items in the college football world. And I'll offer a big thanks for the Sunday morning feature you run in the fall, showing the front pages of local papers -- I think it's a nice way to wrap up the weekend.

Hey Kevin!

I keep this somewhat a secret, but the site gets hundreds of thousands of visitors a month. It has been a long climb. I started the site in August 2005 and on the first day got 91 hits. Two days later only 43. But I stuck with it and eventually the site caught on, thanks to readers such as yourself and members of the media who have helped spread the word. According to Ballhype, the site ranks among the top 20 sports blogs. Frankly, I don't care. It's a labor of love and I'm not into popularity contests. Never have been, never will be.

Regarding comments: The audience is different from fan sites. The idea is to tackle issues and trends and create a think tank of sorts where everyone can come together and intelligently discuss what is happening to the game. The site remains a popular destination for writers and broadcasters. Although you don't see their comments posted on the site, I hear from many of them privately. I'm a working journalist, so in many ways this site is designed for the journalist.

But I wouldn't advise anybody doing this. Frankly, the site has grown beyond my imagination and is a beast to feed each night. This is tough for somebody who likes to have a beer now and then with friends and has a regular job to boot. I estimate that I've only missed 12-15 days of posting since starting the site.
