Is LSU the Team of the Decade?

While Louisiana ranks 48th in high school education, 49th in those who reside below the poverty line and 49th in the general health of the population, today it ranks No. 1 in football.

Louisiana State has the gridiron bragging rights, earned a week ago when Les Miles put his hands around the crystal football, making the Tigers the first team in the 10-year history of the Bowl Championship Series to win two BCS titles.

So does this make LSU college football's team of the decade? Glenn Guilbeau of the Shreveport Times makes a case for the claim, taking note of USC's loss this past season to Stanford. "Such a loss means USC could lose to just about anyone, including Tulane," he writes.

Scott Rabalais of the Baton Rouge Advocate examines the question in detail, looking at six teams that could challenge LSU's claim to supremacy.
