Dixon Played With Torn Ligament in Knee

Incredible story here. Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee nearly two weeks ago against Arizona State, but asked officials to keep the injury quiet because he wanted to continue to play on it.

Dixon, a senior, is now headed for surgery after reinjuring the knee Thursday night in the 34-24 loss at Arizona, dashing the Ducks' hopes for a berth in the Bowl Championship Series title game and ending Dixon's hopes for the Heisman Trophy.

if this is true, than oregon is even dumber than i thought. leaf should have been taking at least 50% of the snaps leading up to the game, and they should have a better offensive package in place in the (seemingly likely) event that dixon goes down.

complete idiots and my suspicions were dead on. big time tv coverage and heisman hype is the reason he kept on playing.

Have you tools ever actually played football? It's about pride and winning, I played with a broken collar bone in college for 2 games at a D2 school, no money, no hope of heisman or national championship. Some people are just proud of what they have accomplished. So your comment is ludicrous.

Well, Zach. You didn't have an NFL future to risk by playing hurt.

I work at a hotel next to University of Arizona. Needless to say, we had a ton of Oregon people here. The QB situation in Oregon is dire. Leaf had an injured foot before the game and sprained his ankle in 2nd quarter and the 3rd stringer hurt his knee in practice recently. Dixon likely was the best choice, sadly.
