With a new sponsor that has money to burn, things are looking up for the Alamo Bowl. Valero, the nation's largest oil refiner, has agreed to become the new sponsor of the San Antonio game, and with the bowl's association with the Big Ten and Big 12 conferences set to expire in three seasons, there is talk the game could move to Jan. 1.
Tim Griffin of the San Antonio Express-News reports that this could happen if the Cotton Bowl successfully makes the jump to a revamped Bowl Championship Series lineup, clearing a spot for the Alamo.
