Debauchery Doesn't Go Over Well in Ohio

Editors at the Plain Dealer decided to send writer John Campanelli on a trip of a lifetime: hitch a ride with three Ohio State students from Columbus to Glendale, Ariz., site of the Bowl Championship Series title game, and chronicle the trip. The students had skipped a week of class and traveled more than 3,000 miles, making stops in St. Louis to tour the Busch brewery, in Las Vegas to party and gamble, and in Los Angeles to watch a taping of "The Price Is Right." Then it came time for the game. The problem? Only one of the students had a ticket, which were going for $1,300 outside the stadium. But somehow the other two students were able to sneak past security and get into the stadium. Great story, right? Some readers don't think so. Ted Diadiun, the paper's readers rep, has been hearing about the decision to publicize an engaging tale of college-age irresponsibility. "What a disgusting message this presents to our nation's youth," wrote one reader. Another letter said, "I can't believe you'd glorify these guys on the front page of the newspaper. Sneaking into a game that other people paid thousands of dollars to see is grand theft ..." Thanks to the Midwest Correspondent.

Oh please!

It's not like they were rubbing one out in a public library.

Who was harmed in the process of this story being written?

The only potential candidates are their livers, their wallets, and their egos for not getting the "Come on down" from an old geezer who's more concerned about controlling the pet population.

This sounds like a Hunter S. Thompson article.

It just goes to show you how stupid some security guards are!

What if they were terrorists with a suitcase nuke? That's not so funny.

For those of us who love college football, there is no greater thrill than (successfully) sneaking into a game when you can't afford a ticket. I definitely snuck into Notre Dame/Georgia Tech at the beginning of this season, and it's still probably my favorite story to tell absolutely anyone who will listen.

sounds like a great trip. They took in the sites of this country, partied in Vegas, were at one of the last season tapings of the PIR (bob is retiring this summer), and had a great time at the National Championship before the complete implosion of tOSU.

What sucks is tOSU limited the amount of student tickets and couldn't start classes on the 10th of January (classes started Jan.3rd). Oh, and thanks to crappy security (probably at our ports too) we are obviously just waiting until the next terrorist attack, and they proved it. God bless those American boys.

Since when do tOSU students go to class anyways?

Sneaking into a game that other people paid thousands of dollars to see is grand theft ...

....and charging thousands of dollars to see a game that others paid a fraction of that price to see is not?
