Our Man Trev Returns to Your Living Room

Trev Alberts is back in the game. Alberts, who was fired last year by ESPN, has been hired by CSTV and will serve as an analyst for the network's game coverage. It's a new role for Alberts, who was part of ESPN's "College Football Scoreboard" and "College Football GameDay" teams. In other words, he never left the studio at ESPN. And frankly, the two shows never regained their edge after Alberts' departure. Alberts will also serve as an analyst on CSTV's "Crystal Ball," a preview show that has been seeking an identity since its inception. Alberts' return is welcomed in this corner of cyberspace. The Wiz considers him one of the best in the business.

"Never regained their edge." Wow. So Trev actually added something other than Cornhusker apologies and forced arguments with other hosts? ESPN is better off. I'd rather have Holtz stumble his way through than deal with more Trev smugness. He's the college football version of Sean Salisbury, minus the actual research needed for a studio analyst. Kirk, Chris and Lee are the best team on TV and Trev's segments were always forced and unwatchable.

When comments like "considers him one of the best in the business" is attached to Trev Alberts, there are serious issues with the (lack of) quality of college football announcers. But, hey when you compare Trev to the likes of Jim Donnan, I see where the folks at The Wiz are coming from.
