Karsten Was Found Hanged in Garage
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that former ESPN sideline reporter Adrian Karsten was found hanged in his garage Friday, the day after he was to report to federal prison to begin serving an 11-month term for tax evasion (requires registration, story also posted in comments).

Adrian Karsten, who worked the sidelines at college football games for ESPN, was found hanged in the garage of his Green Lake home Friday morning, the day after he was to report to federal prison for tax evasion, according to federal officials.
Karsten, 45, was supposed to begin serving an 11-month prison term at a facility in Rochester, Minn., on Sept. 1, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Jacobs.
When Karsten did not arrive at the prison as scheduled, police officers went to his home and found him dead.
In March, Karsten appeared in federal court in Milwaukee and pleaded guilty to two counts of failure to file federal tax returns. As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed two other counts against Karsten.
In addition to the 11-month prison term, U.S. District Judge J.P. Stadtmueller in July placed Karsten on 24 months probation, to include nine months of home confinement, and ordered him to perform 50 hours of community service. Karsten could have received a maximum prison term of two years.
According to court records, Karsten made more than $600,000 while reporting for ESPN between 1999 and 2002. He did not file tax returns for any of those years and owed the IRS approximately $167,000.
