Adrian Kennedy Karsten
Adrian Kennedy Karsten, 45, of Green Lake passed away Friday September 2, 2005 at his home.
A native of Horicon WI., Adrian was born March 13, 1960, the son of Frederik and Kathleen (Kennedy) Karsten. He graduated from Horicon High School in 1978 and then from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science degree, in 1982, while being an active member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Adrian's career in broadcasting spanned 23 years, beginning at WCWC Radio in Ripon and included over twenty years with ESPN, where he won an Emmy award in 1990. Among these honors he covered various prestigious events including the Tour de France, The Great Outdoor Games, The America's Cup, and what he was remembered for most, NCAA football where he was a primetime sideline reporter. Adrian loved sailing, reading, but most of all enjoyed the time he spent with his son Shawn. He had made his home in Green Lake for the past 8 years.
Adrian is survived by his son, Shawn and Shawn's mother Joan Karsten of Ripon. Brother John (Susan) Karsten of Waupun, WI., Sisters Mary (Jack) Surridge of Chicago, IL., Jennie (Doug) Patrykus of Waupun, WI., and Carrie (Kevin) Knight of New Berlin, WI., He is further survived by Aunts, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of the Resurrection for Adrian Kennedy Karsten will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday September 8, 2005 at the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 217 Houston St. of Ripon, with the Rev. Kenneth Guy officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home 515 Mayparty Dr. of Ripon. Interment will be in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, is assisting the family.
