Minnesota Gets a Fresh Start

Something new and something old at Minnesota. The new is coach Tim Brewster. The old is another flabby nonconference schedule. Now the Golden Gophers aren't alone in scheduling creampuffs, but don't paying customers in the Land of 10,000 Lakes deserve better? Minnesota's out of league opponents: Bowling Green, Miami (Ohio), at Florida Atlantic and North Dakota State.

The Gophers, by the way, will be one of only nine Division I-A teams that will have headgear equipped with sensors that can detect concussions.

And since we're talking Minnesotan, check out RandBall, the fine blog of Minneapolis Star-Tribune sportswriter Michael Rand.
