The Legend of Cody Paul

Check this video of Cody Paul of the Los Alamitos Griffins, the 2006 Pee-Wee Pop Warner national champions. Simply put, Cody is a man among boys. Considering he's playing in USC's backyard, Pete Carroll might want to reserve Reggie Bush's old No. 5 for young Cody.

Update: Cody, we are told, was 12 when this video was shot.

  2. I'll take #20, his fullback, any day of the week. Its tough to teach kids that age to tackle, which is why a lot of those clips look so reggie-bush-like.

Teaching them to block is even harder... thats why I'd take #20.

  13. he looks pretty good. i had to come see for myself...but the defense against him was awful. plenty of arm tackles...i have seen kids just as talented as cody on the 6-7-8 and 9-10 level here in SC...south carolina...and i will get some footage posted.

  15. Yeah, coaching kids that age how to block and tackle is hard. Even harder still is giving these kids confidence to use the skills that they are taught. I like Cody's moves and his confidence. That is what will keep him good for a long time. as kids tackle better, he will get better. Gotta love the way he pops up after every tackle.
I agree about number 20. Not as flashy but I am from florida, and there are a million fast kids out here, that could do amazing things with holes like that.

  18. It was amazing when we thought he was 8, and now that i found out that he was 13 on the footage it was a big let down. Not to say that he doesn't have nice skillz, but those are the same skills i see everyday watching kidz down the street play backyard football. I hope Cody does well, but a running back that will probably not exceed 5'10 and 200 pounds is not what I want carry my football.
