Bash Riprock's opened for business in 1986 and from the looks of it, Lubbock has never been the same.
The establishment, which offers "food, fun and then some" is located across the street from Texas Tech's Jones AT&T Stadium.
It features two bars, six pool tables, 20 televisions and according to reader Greg, "excellent old-fashioned burgers and fries."
While this is a place for burgers, it's also a place for beer. There are 20 beers on tap and 300-plus bottled beers. Nightly specials include $1.50 longnecks, $4.50 pitchers and $2 drafts.
"Live music [hip-hop, R&B and country acts] is also featured on the weekends," Greg writes. "The waitresses wear white tank tops and blue jeans which reflects the relaxed atmosphere of the establishment."
Reviews are few and far between on Bash Riprock's. If you've been there, we'd like to get your impressions.

Were this bar not in Lubbock, TX, it would be an easy all time great. However, the fact that Lubbock is it's home means that no one would ever go there that did not attend Texas Tech University.
For those who remember., they use to have a (No kidding) "Penny Pitcher Night". Yes, it was a .01 cents for a pitcher of beer. They had a $10 cover per person, and then you got Coors Light for a sweet penny. Oh the memories.....
I had a license plate cover that said "I buy books at Bashes"
Bash's was (still might be) the official sponsor/watering hole for the Tech Rugby Team.
As an ex TechRugger, we supported Bash's through thick and thin - until we were banned from the bar for about 18 months-- something to do with underage drinking, unpaid tabs, breaking stuff, sex in the bathroom, someone throwing a bouncer's head through the window (along with a pool ball) and a few other things not to be mentioned here...
However, Bash's was, and is, a great, great establishment---the perfect place to bring your parents and smile. "Big John" in the photo, the big fat ass in the photo with the Girls Gone Wild hat is a Tier One loser.
Still, if I'm ever to find myself in the hub city, Bash's is my first destination---Too, they gotta get rid of that shitty fake brick in the bathrooms, there's some great words of wisdom underneath...
Bash's is where you go in Lubbock if you want to hang out with a bunch of goattes and the handful of trashy chicks who follow those goatees around. Beer is cheap but it's relatively cheap everywhere in Lubbock and nothing to me really makes it stand out as far as college bars or college football bars are concerned like the Esso in Clemson or the Supper Club in Auburn (which isn't in walking distance from the stadium Wiz, but you should still look into it).
Bash's fits in with the whole gameday atmosphere in Lubbock. In other words, don't go out of your way because it's not that great.
Lubbock and Manhattan are neck-and-neck for worst town in the Big 12. At least Waco isn't in a dry county.
Bash's? You just ruined the credibility of your entire Thirst and Ten.
hmmmm... there are some better places in Lubbock...
Triple J's for starters.
"Live music [hip-hop, R&B and country acts] is also featured on the weekends"
3 reasons why i will never step into that place.
I'm not gonna lie. I would've picked Chimy's over Bash's any ol' day of the week and twice on Saturdays!
Man, I didn't think the hostility would have risen to this level. Folks, the criteria for Thirst and Ten is for an establishment to be close to a college football stadium, not miles away like Triple J's (which is located in the depot section of downtown Lubbock, miles from campus) or the War Eagle Supper Club in Auburn (4 miles from campus). As for Chimy's, it is down the street from the stadium but it is sorely lacking in personality.
Oh, the memories! Quad nights were brutal on the liver yet always seemed to produce willing talent.
you are correct greg.
my apologies. but it's seriously like 5 minutes from the stadium. that's close enough.
bash's is alright on mondays (penny pint night) it's now a $5 cover and you give the waitress/bartender a buck for all you can drink. the bar itself is in poor condition. it's bathrooms are horrible, half the pooltables don't work etc. Broadway (one block south) is home to Rocky LaRues, Crickets and chimys, and Bar PM is right around the corner as well. All within a half mile of the stadium, and all with better atmosphere. Not to mention all are much cleaner and more enjoyable overall. Bash's was the place to be back in the day, but that is no longer the case. that being said, i've managed to find my way in there on penny night a few times and had some fun...just not my top choice (maybe top 5) for "close to the game" bars.
I went to school at Tech and during my years there frequented many of the local bars. However, I only went to Bash Riprocks a few times. Both times I went I remember thinking that I'd need four or five showers to feel clean again after spending time there. There are better bars in Lubbock, trust me.
Thank you for profiling the single worst bar at Tech..Anyone who reads this blog and goes to Lubbock for a game will leave with the absolute worst impression of TT because you've recommended the garbage dump known as Bash's.
Not only is it strategically positioned next to a plasma donation center whose clientele consists of the true slime of the planet, but Bashs itself is home to a regular rotation of stand-up citizens.
The only thing Bash's is known for amongst students is never having any good looking girls, and looking like a crackhouse on the inside. Please redeem yourselves and feature Chimy's or Crickets.
I am the "Big John" in the photo. And, to respond to my dear friend from the rugby team, I would like to say that I am the supposed bouncer they threw through the window. The truth is, it wasn't a pool ball, it was a pint glass. And, it wasn't me who went through the window, it was a guy named Kunkle who busted the window. The police report (if anyone cares) will give the accurate report. They're just mad because I wouldn't let their minors drink and I did my job. Damn me and such.
And to whomever the webmaster is, thanks for the reviews.
Signed,
John The Tier One Loser
I'm Tier One, baby!!!
I used to be a bouncer at Bash's, as well as a Texas Tech Rugby player (flanker and winger). This bar is definitely a fun place to go to party with friends or find the occasional hookup (no details, sorry). Though I am not in Lubbock anymore, I will remember the good times that were had. Whether noon on a weekday or 4 in the morning, I loved every minute of that place...even my first zooloo!
There are plenty other bars in Lubbock. If you're looking for a place where all the obnoxious frat daddies and their obnoxiou anorexic sorority girlfriends hang out, then Bash's probably isn't the place for you.
Quad night.....One drink with four times the hooch. Hell, there was never any room for the OJ. It was all Vodka. Crawl home to Sneed Hall....I think I remember it.
I even remember seeing someone getting his ass kicked for playing FreeBird.
Mike
Sprietel...where are you?
