Gundygate Spreads to Knoxville

Tennessee coach Phil Fulmer used his team's big win over Georgia to go off on a guest column by John Pennington that appeared in Friday's editions of the Knoxville News-Sentinel.

Pennington, who also has a Sunday television show in Knoxville, quoted several unnamed former players questioning the direction of the Volunteer program under Fulmer.

"An incredible cheap shot," Fulmer said.

Criticism of Fulmer has been mounting in recent weeks after the Volunteers lost to California and Florida.

"You want me to say, 'Stick it up your rear?' " he joked after one question about the mounting criticism of his regime. "I'm not gonna do that. There was a lot of apprehension going into this football game. You guys don't understand how much these players care about their coaches and this program. They were really excited to come out here today and play this game and prove some of those people who may have doubted us wrong."

If anybody can help us out, we are on the hunt for the video.
