I know many of my friends and I enjoyed the Purdue game, and I personally have always had lots of respect for Purdue's program since the Drew Brees days. (I'm only 20, I don't remember any further back.) I know we'd definitely love to have you back, and that you guys should be treated with nothing but respect. No fans that come into ALOHA Stadium should be treated with anything but the aloha spirit.

Drunken fan behavior is always a concern, and with the Boise State and Washington games, I think we're going to see more efforts for security at UH games. But if rowdiness continues, I'd bet Lt. Gov. Aiona may resume discussions on banning alcohol from the stadium. There's been lots of opposition to that, despite the fact that it's becoming more of a standard around college sports.

Many fans may boo and taunt, but that's just gamesmanship. Those that get abusive, though, that's just wrong. If you guys ever do get to come back, keep the Aloha Stadium Security phone number in your cell phone, like I do. Because of costs, it's hard for Aloha Stadium to heavily secure the whole stadium, so they depend on phone calls to let them know of situations. The only problem is, they don't post that number continuously on the JumboTron or on signage. It's (808) 483-2807. When you call them, things usually get handled quickly.jase0517https://www.blogger.com/profile/13280639809580949966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15857498.post-62332686423965079822008-01-04T05:12:00.000-08:002008-01-04T05:12:00.000-08:00And Hawaii wonders why no one wants to come play i...And Hawaii wonders why no one wants to come play in Aloha stadium. This came in the 2nd Qtr in the opener at Clemson. I have never seen such illegal behavior from a coach to a player as I did from that redneck Trickett that day.

I have searched everywhere for a video of this but have had no luck. I go to every game, and drunken fan behavior can get crazy at times. But if you read everything the Boise State and Washington fans said following their visit, you'd see how well they were treated. It's sad and deplorable that there were a few notable fights during the Fresno State game, but a few dozen (or even hundred) fans out of 49,000 does not mean the Aloha Stadium crowd is full of thugs.

As for fights on the field, we haven't seen those for years. Yes, there was Cincinnati in 2002, and there was Houston in 2003. But this is 2007-08. We don't do that anymore; we play with passion and pride, but we also play with discipline. Don't confuse the haka/ha‘a for uncontrollable ferocity. Even Georgia fans have noted that it was the UH players helping up their opponents, not the other way around. We play hard, but we respect the other team. Every so often, someone ends up doing something they shouldn't be doing, but I'd hardly say it's rampant, or anything to that effect.jase0517https://www.blogger.com/profile/13280639809580949966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15857498.post-74513598435331313722008-01-03T18:51:00.000-08:002008-01-03T18:51:00.000-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.jase0517https://www.blogger.com/profile/13280639809580949966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15857498.post-4480679941615095422008-01-03T18:39:00.000-08:002008-01-03T18:39:00.000-08:00just google something like Hawaii football and bra...just google something like Hawaii football and brawl and see how many stories come up with fights between Hawaii and the opposing team. Dont think those happened by Hawaii playing clean. Hawaii seems to have a fight break out at least once a year both on the field and in the stands. Fresno State was this years victims. Hopefully the Cincinnati Bearcats wont be next years victim like they were in 2002 I believe.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15857498.post-46336455635326507962008-01-03T15:38:00.000-08:002008-01-03T15:38:00.000-08:00Nope...Have to agree with the Hawai'i piling on. We like to hit, but I'd like to think there's a line we don't cross.

Keenan Jones (who was a senior, BTW) has always had his share of hot-headed problems. I was proud of the way the team persevered despite getting beat down by Georgia, but I was not proud of Keenan Jones. Everyone sees the tattoos and the wild hair, and they think Hawai‘i is a team of thugs, when they really aren't. But Jones didn't do anything to prove that stereotype wrong. I don't blame anyone for being disappointed in Jones' play; I just hope you don't unfairly label the other players in the same light.jase0517https://www.blogger.com/profile/13280639809580949966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15857498.post-27713921224579805492008-01-03T09:12:00.000-08:002008-01-03T09:12:00.000-08:00Hawaii is the king of cheap shots. Consider: Mikey Henderson was a senior, playing his final game for Georgia, and was one of the upstanding leaders of the team - one of the most selfless players. Before he gets a real chance to even touch the ball, he gets speared illegally and concussed, forcing him to watch his last game of football from the sidelines.

After that, I'd say 99% of Dawg fans were OK with any late or hard hits on Hawaii (and there were a few of them).LDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08416468186977171781noreply@blogger.com
