Crystal Ball

Mike Hlas, Cedar Rapids Gazette: After a 6-1 week, he's back for more and jumping aboard the Notre Dame bandwagon. Why not? This is the only pick on the board that has one team with a 43-game winning streak against its opponent.

Jon Wilner, San Jose Mercury News: This is an easy one. Wisconsin lost at Penn State, 38-7. Ohio State won at Penn State, 37-17. He'll take Ohio State and give the points. In the Pacific 10, he's picking four underdogs to cover the spread.

Double D, Boston Herald: Wake Forest is a slight favorite at Virginia. Lay the number. The Demon Deacons have won six in a row and should have little trouble against the offensively challenged Cavaliers.

Jerry Hill, Waco Tribune-Herald: Missouri will escape with a victory at Colorado, but the same can't be said of Texas against Oklahoma State.

National Championship Issue: Kansas should be able to turn it on and cover the big number against Nebraska.

Phil Steele: His top 25 forecast has Alabama beating Louisiana State, 24-23, and Oregon burying Arizona State, 38-24.

New York Post: Saturday's heroes tackle the spread.
