Week 9

Is Boston College worthy of its lofty ranking? The Eagles soared to the No. 2 slot in the Bowl Championship Series standings, but this doesn't mean squat in Las Vegas.

Boston College is a three-point underdog Thursday night at Virginia Tech. Go figure, pollsters....

Ten days ago, we posted a piece titled "Who Needs Polls When You Have Bettors?" The linked Bloomberg story stated that bettors can forecast the outcome of games more accurately than polls. If that is the case, the betting public is sending a message: The Eagles are not worthy of the No. 2 slot.

There is one other game Thursday. New Mexico is a 5.5-point favorite over Air Force at Albuquerque.

On Friday, Boise State (-3) travels to Fresno State in a Western Athletic Conference showdown.

Not sure the last time USC was an underdog, but on Saturday the Trojans are getting three points at Oregon.

Other featured games on Saturday: South Florida (-4.5) at Connecticut; Kansas (-2.5) at Texas A&M; Georgia (+9) vs. Florida at Jacksonville; South Carolina (+3) at Tennessee; West Virginia (-6) at Rutgers; Ohio State (-3.5) at Penn State and California (+3) at Arizona State.

On Sunday, Central Florida (+2.5) visits Southern Mississippi.

u got to love a piece that leaves out the obvious when asking why BC is #2 in the bCS and cant figure out wy they are underdogs.

hey dumba$$es, 1.) they're on the road. 2.) the team they are playing is only a few spots behind them.
