Blake Mitchell, Spurrier's Main Man

South Carolina's hopes this fall might rest with quarterback Blake Mitchell, who are you can see from these photos posted earlier this summer by the excellent site Deep South Sports, likes to have a good time, especially at wedding receptions. There are more photos where these came from.

Mitchell returned to the team this week after being suspended for the first two practices for excessive class absences during summer school.

Last September he allegedly took a swing at a bouncer at a Five Points bar in Columbia. Mitchell was arrested and jailed, and although the charge was dropped, he was suspended by coach Steve Spurrier.

Spurrier refused to answer a question about Mitchell's leadership abilities during his remarks earlier this week to open fall drills.

"If he plays like a starter, he'll continue being the starter," Spurrier said.

God bless the Internet.

What no one noted was that Mitchell is so committed to success this season he takes every opportunity he can to work on his foot movement and throwing motion. If that means his Right Guard went wrong and he has to miss a few classes, so be it. Bring on the Ws Blake!
