The Fine Art of Lying

Should Tom Coughlin be fired as coach of the New York Giants and Crewcut Charlie Weis ends up as Giants coach, Weis will have been proved a liar. Crewcut repeatedly has said he is not leaving Notre Dame, but as John Branch of the New York Times pointed out, because Weis is a football coach, such denials have lost their meaning. Three recent examples: Boston College's Tom O'Brien released a statement saying he was "not a candidate for any job." Days later he was named coach at North Carolina State. Dennis Erickson saying the only reason he would leave Idaho would be to retire. He was recently named coach at Arizona State. Rich Rodriguez, angry over reports he was headed to Alabama, called a radio show to say he planned to spend his career at West Virginia. Days later he considered Alabama's offer before turning it down. Denying interest in a job and then accepting it has become has become routine in coaching circles. Is Weis a man of his word? Consider that Crewcut was one of four finalists for the Giants job three years ago, and during his interview with the team, Weis reportedly called the Giants his dream job.

He's not going anywhere. He has his family settled down. He's got an environment established for his daughter with special needs. His buyout is a reported $10-15 million. And he has more time to devote to his family than if he was still in the NFL. He's not going to pull up the roots and start their lives over in New York.

He's coaching at his alma mater, and the program has improved by leaps and bounds in his first two years. Notre Dame is his other dream job, and he won't be leaving for the better part of a decade.

How could such an "obvious" genius not recognize the need for fielding, I don't know, a Defence. Sorry, DefenSe. Go coach the Giants.

twa and ry guy, you sound like Notre Dame haters from the illustrious school of Mark May bullshit bias. ND is much better these past 2 years. You're prolly just jealous cuz you couldn't have gotten in if you wanted to.

When ND passes through the gauntlet of the service academies every year, why do people talk about their schedule like it's murderer's row? They should be glad they aren't playing Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. At least LSU has a national reputation they can use as an excuse.

To the ND loser that posted above,

Just because your mommy and daddy donated a building or something doesn't give you a right to be such an asshole.

You are the exact reason why people hate Notre Dame and its elitist bullshit. You and all the other beer dorks that roam around that campus. Just a ton of dorky kids who are yelling "Man...I'm so wasted!" and "College!". I know three kids that went there and they are maybe the 3 most socially retarded kids I have ever met in my life.

In sum, get a life dork...but enjoy living in your little bubble and actually thinking that you are a cool guy, because in reality, the rest of the world knows better.

Jokes on you pal...
