We Hear Cuba Is Nice This Time of Year

On Monday, it was announced that the Nov. 19 game between in-state rivals South Carolina and Clemson would not be telecast on national or regional television. The news set off a firestorm of protests in the region, as fans learned they would have to fork over $30 for a pay-per-view feed of the game. Now the ever-opportunistic Rep. John Graham Altman, R-Charleston, has stepped in, suggesting that those responsible should be punished. "I'm in total disbelief," said Graham, pictured the far right (no pun intended ... OK, maybe just a little one). "I think this might be illegal. We need to deport the people who made this decision to Guantanamo Bay. I may very well introduce a bill to do just that." Huh? Really, Mr. Altman, how much more torture can we take?

I don't know about right-wing wacko's deportation ideas, but it does suck that the most important game of the year in the state is always on PPV. Seriously, if Sox-Yankees was PPV in NYC, there would be rioting in the streets. Those two teams ARE football here, and being a USC student, I would really love to not have to pay 30 bucks to see the TEAM THAT MY TUITION PAYS FOR PLAY!
