Callahan Calling It 'Gesturegate'

If Bill Callahan would have followed his throat-slash gesture by applying WWE superstar Chris Benoit's finishing move — the Crossface Crippler — on a referee, we'd buy it. But the Nebraska coach did no such thing. Much like a wrestling heel, which oddly enough is a role Benoit has played many times, Callahan insists he did nothing wrong, even though everybody but the referees saw his gesture. Happens all the time in the WWE, doesn't it? Callahan made matters worse backstage, when he spent five minutes talking about the incident during the Big 12 coaches teleconference. So what's really going on? Callahan is clearly frustrated and all he wants is a title shot (Big 12, that is), but his team is fading fast.
